Project description

GMM INOX has successfully completed one of the most demanding engineering projects in its history – the construction of a specialized dust filter pressure vessel. This device was designed and manufactured based on the rigorous German technical code AD 2000-Merkblatt, which regulates the production of pressure equipment with the highest level of safety. The project demanded immense material and welding precision, absorbing as many as 1981 man-hours of meticulous work by our team.

Project objectives

The main and most uncompromising objective of the project was to create a device resistant to an extremely aggressive chemical and process environment. For this purpose, the ultra-sophisticated nickel-chromium-molybdenum superalloy Hastelloy C22 (2.4602 / 2.2604) was used in the zone with direct product contact, featuring near-absolute resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress-corrosion cracking. Conversely, for components with no product contact, the proven acid-resistant stainless steel AISI 316L (1.4404) was utilized to optimize costs while maintaining excellent mechanical properties. Combining such metallurgically distinct materials required the implementation of unique, advanced welding procedures.

This was a project with an extremely high level of difficulty, where the precise sequence of individual manufacturing operations was critical to the success of the entire investment. In the production halls of GMM INOX, there was no room for the slightest error or improvisation. Every single phase – from cutting the thick sheets for the shell (6.3 mm) and dished ends (8 mm), through geometric forming, up to advanced welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) – was meticulously planned, coordinated, and supervised by our quality control department. In line with our core philosophy, we executed the entire process from planning and design to implementation 100% according to the client’s individual, rigorous requirements. If your process requires such advanced material solutions, we will design and manufacture a similar filter or reactor specifically for you.
